Classic Israel Alumni Tour

Day 1

Arrival to Ben Gurion airport. Meeting and assistance on arrival at Ben Gurion Airport and transfer to your hotel in Tel Aviv. 

Enjoy an early dinner and briefing at hotel.

Overnight:   TEL AVIV   

Day 2


Tel-Aviv is the bustling, business center of Israel, with many museums, theatres and auditoriums. Tel-Aviv  also boasts modern architecture, alongside classic examples of the Bauhaus school of the 1930’s and 1940’s brought to Israel by new immigrant architects at that time. The Neve Tsedek  area, one of the first neighborhoods built outside Jaffa, is now an Artist’s Colony and is being lovingly restored. We will continue to Rothschild Boulevard where there is the largest collection of Bauhaus architecture in the world.  We will end our visit in Jaffa, one of the World's most ancient port cities, where stone buildings, narrow passages and picturesque courtyards recall the rich past of this charming city. Today, Old Jaffa is alive and houses a thriving artists’ colony. Visit the beautifully preserved Al Mahmoudiya Mosque and the  Ilana Gur.

This evening, enjoy a welcome reception and dinner at hotel

Day 3


Head north to Caesarea, an important city in ancient times with wonderfully restored Roman, Byzantine and Crusader-era sites and explore the excavations. Continue to Haifa, Israel’s largest port, and ascend to the summit of Mount Carmel. Visit the studio and home of the expressionist painter, Emmanuel Mane-Katz, which is now a museum. Then tour the beautiful Bahai Gardens, with its gilded dome that marks it as the world center for the Bahai faith.

Enjoy a private tour and meeting with a Bahai Representative. Continue to a kibbutz guest house for overnight and dinner.

Day 4


Begin the day at Safed, the center of Jewish mysticism and home to ancient synagogues and an artist colony. After lunch, visit the Mount of Beatitudes, known as the site of the Sermon on the Mount. Then travel to Capernaum, the center of Jesus’ ministry, where a modern church has been built over the remains of what is believed to be the house of Saint Peter. Explore Tabgha where, according to the Bible, Jesus miraculously multiplied two fish and five loaves of bread to feed the crowds. Enjoy a leisurely boat ride on the Sea of Galilee.

 Day 5


Travel to the important biblical region of the Upper Galilee and to the Golan Heights. Begin the morning at the Banias, a biblical city located at the foot of Mt. Hermon, followed by lunch atop Mount Ben Tal, with its views of Israel’s northern borders. Drive to Katzrin, the administrative center of the Golan Heights. Wine tasting at the Golan winery  and a tour of the Golan Archaeological Museum. 

Dinner & Overnight:  TIBERIAS

Day 6


Drive south toward Jerusalem, passing olive groves, pomegranate shrubs, grape vines and fig trees. Stop at Cana, the supposed site of the biblical story of Jesus turning water into wine. Continue to Nazareth and visit the Church of the Annunciation before driving to the   archaeological site of Zippori best known for its stunning Roman and Byzantine era mosaics. Upon reaching Jerusalem, stop at Mount of Olives for a panoramic view of the city and visit the Church of All Nations, with its beautiful view of the Old City of Jerusalem, and make a welcome blessing.

Check into hotel.   Evening at leisure.

Overnight:   JERUSALEM

Day 7


Start the morning by exploring Jerusalem’s Old City, stopping first at the Temple Mount. Admire the brilliant Golden Dome of the Rock and take time at the Western Wall. After lunch at a local restaurant in the Old City, walk along the Via Dolorosa—the Way of the Cross and visit the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. Continue to King David’s Tomb and the Room of the Last Supper on Mount Zion. Drive through the New City of Jerusalem to Ein Kerem to visit the Church of St. John.

Day 8


Proceed to Bethlehem to visit the Church of the Nativity and Shepherd's Field. After the tour you will have a special activity at the Machne Yehuda (Jewish) Market- each person will get a “tasting card" with 8 stations inside the market that included various tastings: spices, halva, fresh health juice, cheese, ethnic breads, organic coffee, borekas, olive oil and more… Following some free time in the market, we will go to a short cooking workshop in a special gallery inside the market, accompanied by an Israeli chef. You will prepare your own lunch during the workshop. We end the day The Israel Museum and the Shrine of the Book.

Evening- transfer to the airport for flight back
